"Initiating a movement in someone you didn't initially expect it from is perhaps the greatest thing in the world."

Immediate click

Martijn: "I've been working for 2.5 years now Puls. I saw a vacancy online for a consultant and I liked it at the time. Previously, I had already applied for a job at Argo Advies (now The Occupational Health and Safety Service) and this turned out to be a match on vision, but not on work. So I was also surprised when I stood in front of the same building when I Puls came for an interview. The click was there immediately during the conversation and the rest is history."

The corporate culture quickly appealed to Martijn: "Professionalism and responsibility are important at Puls, but also a sense of togetherness, humor and fun. You can go to Puls On a professional level, we always go to everyone, but also for fun or to catch up. What I still find special is that it feels so friendly among colleagues, despite the fact that we work alone most of the time."

Workday

Despite the fact that Martijn works alone a lot, not a day goes by that he doesn't see anyone: "I usually start my working day by checking my emails and updating them where necessary. Then I get in the car for South and Central Limburg, and Southeast Brabant to visit my candidates. I have a huge preference to visit people in their homes, because then I see them in their own environment, where they are often more at ease. I also regularly visit meeting locations for candidates who have a preference for this. I am always flexible in this. In between the conversations, I occasionally call Occupational Health and Safety Advisors of the Occupational Health and Safety Service or colleagues to coordinate a few things. At the end of the day, I often do some administration and then I close my laptop again. Working with different people who all have different experiences and can contribute to their recovery or sometimes just a first step in the right direction is what I really enjoy. This work is so incredibly dynamic that it's hard to find a day that feels the same. In addition, I really enjoy the freedom I have in my work, from traveling to different places to managing my own agenda. There is a great deal of responsibility, but I also notice that there is a lot of appreciation for what you do, both from candidates and from Puls itself."

Your contribution may add something

After 2.5 years, the work still gives Martijn a lot of energy: "To set in motion a movement or change in someone's mind that you had not initially expected is perhaps the best thing about this kind of work. And actually having the feeling that your contribution has added something to a candidate's progress.

And getting a big cup of coffee with a cake or a piece of flan on yet another home visit is obviously very nice too!"
