What is the WIA?

WIA stands for Work and Income to Work Act. If your employee has a long-term illness, he or she will face the WIA after two years of illness. The WIA assessment is carried out by the UWV.

What are the benefits?

We distinguish between two benefits within the WIA:

  • WGA benefit Resumption of Partially Disabled Workers An employee is entitled to WGA benefit if he / she has been sick for more than two years, is more than 35% incapacitated for work and can return to work in the future.
  • IVA benefit Inkomensvoorziening Volledig Arbeidsongeschiktten An employee receives IVA benefit when he/she is completely disabled.
