From sales associate to a job in healthcare!

Hanneke is 38 years old, married and mother of 3 children. After she finished her mbo studies 20 years ago, she worked for years at her old employer in the supermarket. Unfortunately, physical complaints made this work too hard for her. Through her old employer Puls came into the picture to follow a 2nd track program with the aim of finding a suitable workplace.

Hanneke says: "I started the program full of good and fresh courage. I saw the program as an opportunity to look for a job that I am really excited about. The consultant sensed where my interests lay and took a good look at them and extracted what I thought was necessary. Ideally, I wanted to work in healthcare, even though I knew this was not an obvious choice without a degree and with physical complaints. There was no lack of motivation!

At the same time, I also had my reservations. After all, I was also on a tough rehabilitation track. I could not see where I would end up with the 2nd track trajectory while the rehabilitation had yet to begin. I found this very much and intense at the same time. I may have been too enthusiastic and too rosy, which caused me to have a meltdown halfway through the program. Especially after some rejections came in. That's when uncertainty sets in. The consultant responded well to this by continuing to look for suitable workplaces, which gave me the idea that we were going somewhere again.

Now I can proudly say that I succeeded. In one week I was invited for two job interviews. The first one was a success. I got an interview for the position of assistant living and welfare. Exactly what I wanted! Fortunately, the enthusiasm was mutual. The job consists largely of activities such as drinking coffee and making contact with clients in combination with light housework. Physically hardly taxing and beautiful work to do. For me, it couldn't have worked out better!"
