"I am an assistant controller of 51 years old, married and have a daughter. At my former employer, I worked for 31.5 years. I used to do mavo and meao. Then I started working at a bank through an acquaintance who worked there as head of administration and that's how I ended up there. After about a year a reorganization came up. Through a temporary employment agency I ended up at my former employer. I started as an administrative assistant and worked my way up to administrator. The last 12 years I worked as assistant controller.

How did you Puls Have you come into contact with it?

"In June 2016, there was a merger. Joy within the company, because we were growing. We had acquired another company. There were two administrations coming together. Then not everyone could stay. Both on our side, and the acquired company, people had to leave. I was allowed to stay, but my position as assistant controller expired. Then I got another position. The manager of the company we took over was put at the head of our department. In the controlling department, the whole merger process played out in September 2016. I was also involved in that. In October, I dropped out with burnout. Then you end up at the occupational health and safety service. Within a short time, I had to start reintegrating. In January the following year I started again with a few hours. Slowly I built up to the end of June. After this I reported better. Unfortunately, my job was eliminated during this period of illness. I was allowed to reintegrate and build up until December, though. But yes, then you are sitting there. There was a completely different team down and that feels very different."

When is Puls have you been involved?

"From mid-September, I had the first conversations with a consultant from Puls. At the end of October, I came up with a vacancy myself. The consultant of Puls then contacted that company. I had an interview there at the beginning of November and after that things went quickly. I was able to reintegrate there in December. Supported by this Puls me. The consultant helped to make a plan with this employer. I was able to start reintegrating there."

Just reintegrating?

"Yes, initially I did. I had taken the job posting to the consultant and said, 'I will want and have had that kind of position.' But they were looking for someone with a different profile for the position there. Even so, I started to reintegrate for a few hours. I was very well taken care of there. It felt familiar, there was someone whose family member had also suffered burnout. It clicked right away between us. I did ask about the vacancy, whether I could apply for it. But alas, they wanted someone with a different profile. Too bad, I thought, so be it. I was already happy that I could build up my hours there, was well taken care of and coached. By the end of March, I had fully accrued my hours and the reintegration contract expired. I had completed everything for the WW application. Then the employer came to me in the afternoon:

"How would you like to stay here for 3 months?" Yes, that was much better than sitting at home!
They had a job to do for 3 months. Just before King's Day I was told that I could continue with that job. It was extended to a one-year contract."

Can you tell a bit about the new feature?

"I am back in the position of assistant controller. At my previous employer, the emphasis was more on financial results. Drawing up balance sheets and analyzing the figures. In my current position the focus is on the financial side but also on the business controller side. A bit more varied and new challenges. With every company you have to learn new things. One moment you think, "Wow how will I ever learn this?", but you will have that with every job. The advantage is that I had already spent the first few months in the administration, so I was already familiar with a few things. In that respect, it worked out wonderfully. Looking back, I had been doing the same thing for years and then you get stuck. It did bring me more of a challenge. I used to work 80% on autopilot. Now I'm learning new things, which is much more of a challenge. I've always thought, "I want to work in business," but when I see it now I just give me a foundation. This company also has a Christian background, just like me. That also plays into it. It's very different now in a foundation than in a commercial company. "

Can you tell us a bit more about what Puls has done?

"At first, I had no idea what you could do for me. At first I thought you could open a drawer with all kinds of jobs. The consultant indicated that you are supposed to do it yourself. I came up with the vacancy of my new employer myself. I had found it myself, but the consultant helped with the mediation. She made the first contact with the employer. The consultant helped me orientate; What do you want and which way are you going? I knew what I wanted, we had a very specific goal in terms of functions. I filled out a questionnaire and that showed me what I wanted to do. In addition, the job finder of Puls watched. I also experienced that positively that someone actively searched with me. I had regular conversations with the consultant. I experienced these conversations as very positive. The consultant is always smiling and radiating positivity. I have always experienced the conversations as very pleasant. She gave me a positive outlook during this phase: It's going to be okay."
