Puls Success story: Meet Cynthia!

Cynthia worked for one of the clients of Puls, the reintegration office of the paraDIGMA groep. In the middle of last year, it became clear that her future no longer lay with her former employer and that she did not Puls taken over her. From August 15, 2016, Cynthia was employed by us and we guided her intensively. And with results! From the end of November, Cynthia started working for a new employer for 3 months. And now she got the good news that they are offering her a one-year contract as of March 1st. So it's time for a chat with Cynthia!

First of all, congratulations on your contract extension!
"Thank you! As of March 1, I was told that I was given a one-year contract with my current employer. Needless to say, I am very excited about this!"
You have now been in place at your new employer for 3 months: how did you get there?
"When it was clear that I would no longer be working at my previous employer and joined Puls , I was extensively coached and encouraged to look ahead again and look for a new challenge."
"The coaching and conversations with Puls gave me a good insight into what I liked and where my strengths lie. Then I decided to start looking for a job as a quality employee. On a job site I found several vacancies that matched my wishes".
I was in the application round for several positions. I was quite nervous before the interviews, but thanks to the tools provided by Puls I managed to get through them. The great thing was: I was eventually offered 2 jobs, which of course gave me an enormous boost! In the end I went with my gut and chose my current position, and I have no regrets.
What does your new position entail?
"At my current employer we work on labeling for various products both for the food and non-food sector. We check labeling based on legislation. I will also soon be involved in the labeling of detergents and cosmetics. Besides being educational in terms of legislation and protocols, the work is also a lot of fun!"
Puls has supported you in finding a suitable new challenge. To what extent does the work now differ from your previous job?
"In my previous job, I was mainly doing analytical work in the chemical industry. That was really research work. I noticed that the commercial side did attract me, but there didn't really seem to be room for this within the organization."
"In addition, in that position I was mainly doing work in a laboratory. In such a setting you are often working solo and that can be quite lonely. I also missed the social aspect there such as interaction with colleagues or customers."
"In my current job, I am much more involved with colleagues and there is an open and learning environment. I feel right at home here".
Can you explain how the team at Puls supported you in finding your new position?
"First of all, I regained confidence in myself. My previous job I did mainly with blinders on and I kept running into a so-called wall. Fortunately, Puls was there to hire me".
"I had many conversations with the staff at Puls . My confidence has been built through these sessions. The focus is also placed on being proactive so I started to look for job openings myself, network and attend training sessions. I was in the office 3 mornings, actually I really enjoyed that too. People were tremendously friendly and helpful. This resulted in me actually seeing myself as a valued colleague".
"Through the tools you get from Puls you really find out who you are and what you are good at. This has led to the targeted search for my new position and the pleasure I now have in my job."
What do you think characterizes the services provided by Puls ?
"I have regained my self-confidence through conversations with Puls. The personal approach is characteristic of them. By developing a customized coaching program for me, I have realized my opportunities. Another feature of the service is proactively seizing opportunities-they really take you by the hand, but you have to want and do it yourself!"
"So I would definitely recommend Puls to other people who are in a similar situation like me. I am very grateful to the staff at Puls for that!
Get moving!
That employer and employee have to say goodbye to each other is sometimes unavoidable. For example, in the event of incapacity for work, a reorganization, the loss of a position or a labor conflict. Either way, the cooperation between the two should be ended in a positive and proper manner. In this way, both parties can maintain respect for each other. Puls helps with this.
