Is a Occupational Assessor even independent?

The Occupational Assessor at Puls conducts an Occupational health assessment to determine whether: a sick employee is still able to do their own work (full or modified); whether there is other work with the employer and; whether there are opportunities for other work in the job market. The employer is often responsible for the cost of the investigation, but both parties benefit. So how do you know if the Occupational Assessor is independent?

Neutral opinion of the Occupational Assessor

The Occupational Assessor reaches an independent opinion based on the limitations indicated by the company doctor and the information from the employer and employee about the employee's own work and other jobs.

The advice of the Occupational Assessor can have major consequences for the employee and the employer. That the Occupational Assessor is impartial is very important in this regard. The Occupational Assessor was trained during his training to be neutral. The Occupational Assessor describes in the report how he comes to his opinion and substantiates the advice. When a WIA application is submitted, the reintegration file is reviewed by the UWV to determine whether sufficient reintegration efforts have been made. The Occupational Assessor report is also scrutinized. If the Occupational Assessor is insufficiently clear and/or provides insufficient substantiation for the advice, UWV will not agree.

SRA -Stichting Register Arbeidsdeskundigen

All labor experts at Puls are registered with the Stichting Register Arbeidsdeskundigen. Registered labor experts have to comply with the SRA's code of conduct. That code of conduct assumes that the Occupational Assessor exhibits professional behavior and describes a number of values and standards that an Occupational Assessor must meet. A Occupational Assessor can be held accountable for failing to comply with the code of conduct.
