'It's not about what you can't do anymore, but mostly about what you can still do.'

Suppose you have been working in the same organization for decades, and with great pleasure. The colleagues are familiar, you know the organization and the work like the back of your hand. And then a change in your physical capabilities makes it impossible for you to return to your job; suddenly you find yourself at the very beginning of your career, wondering what you really want to do and whether you have the right knowledge and experience for it. It happened to Marloes; she had been working at Jumbo for 16 years, could no longer perform her duties due to several operations and had to look for a new suitable position. This is how she ended up at Puls for a reintegration program.

What do I really like?

Marloes: "It was a very exciting period, after all, I hadn't been to a job interview in 16 years. I also didn't really know where to start, what I wanted and what my possibilities were. Together with Puls I did several tests to get a clear picture of what I really liked to do. Then we looked at what jobs fit this, but most importantly what the possibilities were with my load capacity." Career consultant Najoua went to work with Marloes on a resume and cover letter. "I followed my gut and responded to positions that I thought would suit me. Prior to the job interviews, I received a lot of help from Najoua. Not only for questions, but we also did role-plays so I was well prepared and in the process learned how to show my qualities well," said Marloes.

Then a position came along that immediately attracted her, with the Police: "I saw the job posting through a job site and responded immediately! And after an extensive application process (letter selection, interview, role play and security screening) I was hired for the position of Assistant Intake and Service. Here I take care of the first contact with the citizen and am at the beginning of the investigation process. In addition, I will also take reports and process them in a police report." Thus, Marloes has found a position that suits her.

Tips

Marloes: "I would like to pass on to everyone who has fallen out or is in a reintegration process that you are often told what is no longer possible, but know that there are still thousands of things that are possible. Even though my job does not fit my capacity 100%, I wanted it so badly. Where there is a will, there is a way and don't let that get you down."
