You can do much more than you think!

For years Mirjam worked in a chain store; it was her first job. She started there as a sales associate and developed into a branch manager. Until it became apparent that the position no longer suited her. It was still uncertain whether Mirjam would eventually be able to return to her own job or whether she would have to look for another job with another employer. Thus 2nd track came around the corner, aimed at guidance to suitable work outside the organization.

Mark worked in healthcare for years, until it turned out that his position no longer fit. His employer involved Puls and gave Mark the opportunity to start his search for a suitable position. This is how 2nd track around the corner, aimed at guidance to suitable work outside the organisation. This felt very ambiguous to Mark. He had previously looked at a trajectory to find out what really suits him and now he was given that opportunity. On the one hand a great opportunity, on the other hand he was at the start of 2nd track not feeling well and he looked up to the unknown.

Looking back, he feels like it went fast! Especially in the early days, Mark spoke to his consultant of Puls often. "We've done a lot. For example, the ACT measurement was very valuable to me. This gave me insights about myself and my motivations. I seized the opportunity to shadow an ICT employee, a gardener and I talked to a lab technician. This way I could find out what suits me and what I really like. I wouldn't have done that on my own, but the consultant stimulated me and that helped me enormously."

From healthcare professional to skilled carpenter!

Mark eventually found his future job in the carpenter's trade! Quite different from healthcare, but it is precisely the physical exertion, work with a beginning and an end and no time to stand still and think for a long time, that he likes. Through the network of Puls Mark started a retraining program at a practice center in the construction industry. Here Mark was taught the first skills for the carpenter profession and he was able to do an internship at a construction company. The impression was positive from both sides. Mark now has a workplace at the construction company and is following the BBL training to become a carpenter. This is a programme with a combination of working and learning. At the moment he only takes online classes, but soon he will be able to start doing homework again. He's looking forward to it!

"Looking at where I am now, I have come to the conclusion that you can do much more than you initially think. In the beginning you look up to the unknown. In the end, it's try it and see how it turns out. It turned out very well. Stepping into the unknown and discovering what really suits you; I can recommend it to everyone!"
