When is it time to call in Occupational Assessor ?

When an employee has been absent from work for a long time, as an employer you naturally want to know where you stand when it comes to reintegration possibilities for work. After all, you have already done everything possible to have the employee return to his or her job for an average of a year. Then it is wise to have a Occupational health assessment performed. During the investigation the Occupational Assessor examines the taxability of the employee (based on the functional capabilities list of the (company) doctor), and the load in the job.

During the Occupational Assessor investigation, a Occupational Assessor seeks answers to the following questions:

  • Can the employee return to own work?
  • Can the employee's work be modified?
  • Can the employee reintegrate into other work with their own employer?
  • Are there opportunities in the job market to guide the employee to other work with another employer?

With these answers, a Occupational Assessor can determine what the most optimal reintegration plan looks like. When the employee can reintegrate with their own employee we call this a 1st track, for reintegration with another employer it is called a 2nd track.
