1. What is the 2nd track track?

During the 2nd track process, we explore reintegration opportunities outside the organization and actively seek employment with another employer.

2. Why is a 2nd track track being used?

From the Gatekeeper Improvement Act, there are a number of obligations. The basic premise here is that timely and effective action will shorten absenteeism. This law requires that employer and employee, together with the occupational health and safety service and/or certified company doctor, make an effort to get the employee back to work as soon as possible within or outside the current organization.

3. What will we do in the 2nd track track?

A 2nd track course at Puls means an individual course and customization.

You can roughly divide the trajectory into two parts:

  1. Labor market orientation and job training;
  2. Apply and mediate.

4. What is the duration of a 2nd track track?

By default, a 2nd track track lasts six months. There are two exceptions to this:

  • If another (paid) job has not been found within those six months with another or one's own organization, the trajectory can be extended until the end of the waiting period (the end of the second year of illness).
  • If the employee's workload is very low or if it appears from the start of the program that the employee will be able to return to work for his or her own employer within a short period of time, a program sometimes lasts only 3 months.

5. What job application activities can the employee undertake?

During the 2nd track process, the employee may undertake the following job application activities:

  • Job Application;
  • Open Application;
  • Calling an employer;
  • Visit employer;
  • Registration with an employment agency;
  • A job interview;
  • Assessment or ability test.

6. Found a new job and then?

In the event that an employee finds a new employer within the 2nd track process, there are several options for entering into employment with the new employer. Of course, there is the possibility of immediately entering into new employment with the new employer. But sometimes it is nice for the employee and the new employer, for example, to test the new position properly first, this way the employers and the employee can see if the work and load are appropriate. A trial placement, secondment or work experience placement can then be a solution. For your own employer, this means that you remain employed during that period. If the position proves suitable, the employee will be employed by the new employer after an agreed period.

7. What does trial placement, secondment and work experience placement entail?

  • Trial placement: a trial placement provides an opportunity for the employee and the new employer to assess whether the position fits, when in doubt. The trial period is equal to the duration of a regular probationary period (1 month). During this period, the employee remains employed by his/her own employer.
  • Secondment: in a secondment, the employee is "lent" to another employer (hirer) for a specified period of time, with the employment contract with the current employer (hirer) remaining valid.
  • Work experience placement: here the employee gains relevant work experience, possibly in a different professional field. This may be necessary to examine whether the occupational direction is appropriate to the load capacity or to build up work rhythm and thus increase chances in the regular labor market.

8. When will I be assessed by the UWV?

In principle, the UWV assesses at the end of your second year of illness whether the employee is entitled to WIA benefits. Provided there is reason for an early WIA assessment.

9. Who is responsible for the reintegration process?

Both employer and employee are responsible. Employer is responsible for course, monitoring and supervision of the reintegration process. And as an employee, you are responsible for making an effort during the reintegration process.

10. What can I do if my employer and I disagree on reintegration?

If the employer and employee disagree about the possibilities in the reintegration, both the employer and the employee can request an expert opinion from the UWV. The employee can also request a second opinion from the company doctor.
