Work Perspective is a practical and effective program focused on the first year of absenteeism. Control over the employee's own sustainable employability and labor market orientation are central. Depending on the request for help, for some the program focuses on building a work rhythm, for others on reintegration or career choices, or integrates both elements.

When is Work Perspective the right step?

With (temporary) absenteeism, both the employee and the organization are in a vulnerable situation. Especially in the first year of absence, it is important to keep moving. Our program offers perspective and strengthens the employee's control over his or her career with his or her own employer and/or towards a potential new employer. Returning to the original job or a similar role is not always the best step for sustainable employability. Sometimes a different perspective internally or with an external employer offers much more impact on maintaining employability in the long term.

Work perspective is appropriate in situations such as:

  • A (former) employee with a (temporary) disability who wants to strengthen his or her future position in the labor market.
  • A (former) employee in the recovery phase, who is unsure about returning to their own position, organization or industry.
  • A (former) employee for whom first of all a work experience or volunteer placement is valuable, for regaining work rhythm or gaining new experiences.
  • Imminent long-term absence without clear reintegration prospects, where there is a need to explore new opportunities.

Work perspective additionally provides assistance in other situations where orientation, activation and work readiness are desired.

How does Work Perspective work?

Work perspective at Puls starts with an intake interview. Here we map out the current situation, wishes and questions of the employee. On this basis we draw up a route plan with clear coaching goals and a concrete plan of action.
The goal of Werkperspectief is to offer candidates perspective and thus strengthen the control over their own reintegration (and career). The focus of Werkperspectief is primarily on orientation and activation.

The standard program consists of five individual follow-up sessions, but can be extended with additional sessions if desired. Depending on the request for help, the following interventions (or combinations thereof) may be involved:

  • Regaining and/or building work rhythm;
  • Increase the candidate's understanding of their own (work) preferences and capabilities;
  • Vocational and labor market orientation;
  • Practical exploration of new professional opportunities through networking activities, job shadowing days, volunteer work or a work experience placement;
  • Strengthen interviewing, networking, or job search skills.

The impact of Work Perspective

Work Perspective offers candidates perspective in order to thereby strengthen control over their own reintegration (and career). Inspiring practical experiences of employees:

Due to medical reasons, I was not allowed to drive for six months. Through an external work experience placement in a warehouse near me, I was able to quietly build up my work rhythm. After medical clearance, I was able to gradually resume my own work as a driver after six months and it was not necessary to start a 2nd track towards the end of my first year of absence.

Loss of energy and motivation led to overwork, inefficiency, and eventually dropout. Through coaching, I gained more self-confidence, was able to articulate my needs better and regained my job satisfaction. In consultation with my employer, we chose not to reintegrate into my own job, but another internal job. I fit in better here and have since returned to work full hours in another position.

After leaving sickness as a nurse in a hospital, I found a work experience position as a day care supervisor through the pathway. The fixed working hours allowed me to combine work and home life much better. After three months, I confidently began applying for a paid position as a supervisor, where I was immediately available for my full hours. The jobs were there for the taking!
